Wayne first expressed his artistic ability through music and model railroading. Now his working train room and artwork is his reprieve from the everyday, fast paced lifestyle we all have grown accustomed to.
Wayne’s desire to create with his hands along with his interest in artistic sculpture came together through cold steel and the heat of a cutting torch. Each art piece is hand-cut with great care and attention to detail using an oxygen and acetylene cutting torch.“My desire is to create a piece of art that brings a smile to everyone’s face for years to come.” His work consists of a variety of uniquely regional - Mountain, Native American, Cowboy, and Coastal home & garden furnishings.

He comes from a lineage of artists, which includes his paternal grandfather, an Italian immigrant in 1906, whose accurate ability to mix inks and dyes essential to printmaking and painting were highly prized on the East Coast. Wayne’s mother was an aspiring oil painter who studied with other artists throughout Texas and was know as a motivator in her field.
It was not until after retiring from 20 years in the fire protection field that the metal artisan began to surface. Through self-teaching and a collaboration of welding, drawing and art classes, he soon developed a skilled hand to reproduce art work that the native Americans expressed through petroglyphs and pictographs on caves and hillsides of North America. With a cutting torch, thick metal and a welder, he soon discovered the mastery to portray a unique sculpture.
A collector will immediately recognize Wayne’s work by each sculpture’s thick steel, heavy weight and his distinctive signature on each piece. A sign of a true artisan is manifested in the numerous hand-cuts made into the steel. Vince Herod, President of Balcones Forge, representing Blacksmiths of Central Texas, said the following of a demonstration by Wayne of his work. “I confess I was skeptical that a torch could do the level of work as you demonstrated to us. It seems I had not seen anyone use a torch who truly knew how!”

His work is also featured at the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum and Texas State Capitol Gift Shops. Many of his pieces have been used in various gallery and publication advertisings.
